1. About these terms

These terms apply when you access servicesignal.co.uk, submit a ServiceSignal assessment, view a generated report, or request a free resource. The service is operated by Mackie AI Enterprises Limited, trading as ServiceSignal. We are a company registered in England and Wales under number 17107639, with registered office at 62 Ringley Road, Horsham, England, RH12 4AT.

By submitting information or using the service, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18 and have authority to provide any organisation information you submit.

2. Current service

ServiceSignal currently provides free, self-service security assessments, private indicative reports, public guidance, and a free downloadable framework. The store is a preview catalogue only: checkout, payment, purchase, and paid-file delivery are not enabled. Displayed prices or planned pack descriptions are not an offer that can currently be accepted.

Separate commercial, licence, support, delivery, cancellation, and refund terms will be published and presented before any paid service is enabled. These terms do not commit us to launch a previewed product.

3. Assessments and private links

You are responsible for providing information you are entitled to use and for checking it before submission. A report link contains a signed access token and should be treated as confidential. Anyone who receives a valid link may be able to view that report until the link expires, normally after 30 days. Do not publish or forward it unless you intend the recipient to have access.

Assessment records are normally retained for 12 months as described in the Privacy Notice. Keep your own approved copy if the output is needed for longer.

4. Permitted use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access the current free service and to use reports and the free framework for your own or your organisation's internal business purposes. You may share those materials with employees and professional advisers who need them for that purpose and are subject to suitable confidentiality duties.

You must not, without written permission:

• sell, sublicense, publish, or redistribute ServiceSignal materials as your own product;
• remove ownership, copyright, or source notices;
• scrape the service at scale or use its content to train a competing model or dataset;
• reverse engineer, bypass, or interfere with access, scoring, security, or rate controls; or
• use the service unlawfully or to infringe another person's rights.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of information you submit. You give us a limited licence to host, copy, process, and transmit it only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and lawfully operate the service. Do not submit passwords, access tokens, malicious content, unnecessary personal data, or information that you are not authorised to disclose.

6. Nature of the output

Scores, bands, red flags, checklists, and recommendations are generated from the answers you provide using a general, deterministic methodology. They are indicative decision-support materials, not an audit, certification, assurance opinion, guarantee, or legal, regulatory, insurance, procurement, financial, or professional security advice.

Outputs may be incomplete, become outdated, or differ from a specialist's conclusion. You remain responsible for verification, risk acceptance, supplier decisions, incident actions, and compliance. Do not use a ServiceSignal result as the sole basis for a material decision or as proof that an organisation or system is secure or compliant.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may maintain, correct, suspend, or withdraw all or part of the free service, and may change questions or scoring as practice develops. A material change will not alter a report that was already generated, though its recommendations may no longer reflect the latest version.

8. Third-party content and links

The site may link to third-party sources or describe third-party products. Links are provided for context and do not mean we control or endorse the destination. Third-party terms and privacy notices apply when you use their services. You should verify external information before relying on it.

9. Intellectual property

Except for your content and identified third-party material, the ServiceSignal name, software, assessment structure, scoring presentation, text, design, and resources are owned by or licensed to Mackie AI Enterprises Limited. No rights are granted except the limited internal-use permission in these terms.

10. Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your mandatory statutory rights.

If you use the service for business purposes, then to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue, business, anticipated savings, goodwill, or data. Our total aggregate liability arising from the free service in any 12-month period is limited to GBP 100.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects rights that applicable consumer law gives you. Different liability terms will apply to any future paid service and will be shown before purchase.

11. Suspension and termination

We may block or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect the service, investigate misuse, comply with law, or respond to a material breach of these terms. Provisions that by their nature should continue, including ownership, limitations, and governing law, survive termination.

12. Privacy and cookies

Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal data. Our Cookie Policy explains the necessary preference cookie and optional analytics.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or law. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes apply from publication and will not retrospectively create a payment obligation or reduce rights that have already accrued.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that a consumer may also have the right to bring a claim in the part of the UK or other country where they live under mandatory local law.
